The House of Noor is a place for intentional living, simple things, and learning to care for our homes, our families, and ourselves with more
thought and purpose.

Here, I’m learning as I go, from herbs and natural home practices to homesteading, faith, homemaking, and creating the kind
of home and life we actually want to live.

I’ll share what I’m learning, what’s working, what I’m still figuring out, and ideas from others along the way.

Not because there’s only one right way to live, but because we can learn from one another.

Slow Living Myths / Why You Don’t Need a Homestead to Change Your Life

How long have you been telling yourself you’ll start when? When you have more land. When you have more money. When the kitchen is bigger. When life slows down. When you finally have more time. In this episode of The House of Noor, Meara challenges one of the biggest myths surrounding slow living and intentional living: that you need a homestead, acreage, or a picture-perfect lifestyle before you can begin. Long before her family-owned land, they were learning in rental homes, building simple raised beds, growing vegetables in buckets, keeping apple trees in pots, learning to bake bread, paying closer attention to ingredients, and figuring things out as they went. Those years weren’t a waiting room. They were the beginning. Meara also tackles another excuse many of us know well: “I don’t have time.” While working 52 hours a week, homeschooling three children, helping build her husband’s business, raising a family, and building The House of Noor, she has learned that intentional living does not require hours of extra free time. It starts with small changes, routines, and paying attention to where our time is already going. We may not have hours to spare, but somehow many of us still find time to scroll Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, and watch other people live the life we keep saying we want. This episode is not about rejecting modern life, doing everything from scratch, or turning simplicity into another exhausting checklist. It is about learning what matters to you. Growing something. Cooking something. Learning a practical skill. Teaching your children how to care for a home, solve problems, repair things, and understand where food comes from. It is also about letting go of the internet version of slow living, the perfect farmhouse, linen dress, flawless sourdough loaf, matching jars, and weed-free garden. Because intentional living is not an aesthetic. It is participation in your own life. Meara shares what she learned during the years before owning a homestead, why small beginnings matter, how convenience can sometimes disconnect us from basic skills, and why slow living should never become another source of pressure. You do not need to transform your whole life this week. You just need somewhere to begin. Starting changes you. Watching does not. So ask yourself: What are you still calling “someday” that you could begin now? Listen to The House of Noor for conversations around home, family, intentional living, natural wellness, traditional skills, homeschooling, and finding our way back to what matters. Welcome to The House of Noor / Why I Started Living Differently

Welcome to The House of Noor. In this first episode, Meara introduces the heart behind The House of Noor and the kind of conversations you can expect here. The House of Noor is about building a home and a life that actually fit you. It is about slowing down enough to notice what matters, learning new things without pretending to have everything figured out, and creating something meaningful from ordinary life. Meara shares why she created this space and how her own life as a longtime nurse, mother, homemaker, beginner gardener, and small business owner has shaped the way she thinks about home, family, work, growth, faith, and starting over. Future episodes will explore topics such as homemaking, motherhood, family life, gardening, food, natural living, traditional skills, creativity, small business, learning new skills, and the process of building a life with more intention. This is not a podcast about perfection, rigid routines, or having all the answers. It is a place for honest conversations about what it looks like to learn as you go, make changes when something no longer fits, and build something real one step at a time. If you are trying to create a more grounded home, grow something of your own, raise a family, learn a traditional skill, start a business, simplify your life, or simply figure out what you want the next season of your life to look like, you are welcome here.
